Sticking it to the wall

Wallpaper cannot only give a room the right colour but also add some nice patterns. But some wallpaper can pollute the air. Make sure of what kind it is before you buy. Remove old wallpaper completely before proceeding with the new wallpaper. You can use a scraper, or, for wallpaper that is more difficult to remove use water with a cleaning liquid or base spread over the wall with a brush. Steam removal systems also exist for wallpaper. Should you discover mould under the old wallpaper it needs to be thoroughly removed before you continue with the new work.

A wide variety of wallpaper is available. Wood chip wallpaper is very good. It is durable, keeps for many years and can be painted over often. In addition, it is easy to handle, breathable and does not have a negative impact on indoor air quality. Environmentally friendly wallpaper exists which is made from recycling paper. Wallpaper quality can also be determined by the “RAL” quality label. Most wallpaper can be applied with normal cellulose paste. Pastes with greater adhesive quality and containing anti-mould substances or other additives are not necessary.

You should let the wallpaper dry in a well-aired room before painting the walls, laying the floor or setting up the furniture.
