Low emissions
If a piece of furniture is labelled as low in emissions it means that it has no or very low levels of harmful substances.
These may harm the human body. Not only may they smell bad, but might also irritate the eyes, skin or mucous membranes and lead to headaches and dizziness. One of these substances is formaldehyde that is contained in, among other things, chipboard wood. A simple test is available at the pharmacy which can show whether formaldehyde is in the room.
